Biography

Dr. Tapan Pathak is an Associate Professor and Specialist of Cooperative Extension at University of California Merced. His area of research is focused on agricultural climatology, crop modeling, and adaptation research. At UC Merced, he is leading and/or collaborating on several state and national efforts to study trends and impacts of climate change on various aspects of agricultural production. He is also leading innovative decision support system called CalAgroClimate (https://calagroclimate.org/) that translating climate and weather data into useful agricultural decision support information to assist agricultural community in making strategic decisions in managing risks. Prior to joining the University of California in 2015, he served as Cooperative Extension faculty at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. He is an agricultural engineer by training and received his Ph.D. from University of Florida, M.S. from Utah State University, and B.S. from Gujarat Agricultural University in India.
