Biography


Mitzi Ketchum Clayton
Mitzi Clayton was named the Barbour County Extension Director in January 2024. Prior to working for Alabama Extension, Clayton served as the public relations and communications specialist for Eufaula City Schools for 18 years. Earlier in her career, Clayton served as the manager of corporate communications for Aflac and as the executive director of Leadership Barbour.
Clayton holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in business administration from Troy University.
Clayton was designated as the 2022 Eufaula Barbour County Chamber Ambassador of the Year. She is co-coordinator of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for Barbour County and a member and past president of Christ Child Circle, a Wiregrass United Way agency serving children in Barbour County.
Clayton and her husband, Phil, have three children—Annie Laura, Daniel, and Elliott. Annie Laura is a labor and delivery nurse who is married to Palmer Steventon, an educator. All three children and Clayton are currently students at Auburn University.
The Claytons are members of St. James Episcopal Church in Eufaula.
