Overview
The Issue:
Understanding the roles that Extension and other stakeholders have before, during, and after an animal agrosecurity event is vital to the protection and security of our food and agricultural infrastructure.
The Conference:
With support from the Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES), the Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN) is offering the Midwest Regional EDEN Animal Agrosecurity Conference.
Goal:
The goal of this regional conference is to understand the role of Extension, and other stakeholders, in an animal agrosecurity event.
Objectives:
One objective of this conference is to promote dialog among stakeholders to better understand (1) roles and responsibilities during a major animal agrosecurity event (i.e. disease outbreak), (2) the resources that are available, and (3) how to effectively work as a collective team in all phases of an event. A second objective is to provide a forum for Extension professionals and other stakeholders to discuss a coordinated state/multi-state approach to agrosecurity events.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone with a vested interest in the security of animal agriculture should attend this conference. This includes, but is not limited to: Extension, state veterinarian offices, animal health bureaus, departments of agriculture, emergency management, county/state health departments, law enforcement, commodity groups, veterinarians, zoos and wildlife parks.
Americans With Disabilities:
If you have special needs as addressed by the Americans With Disabilities Act or special meal requests, please contact Conne Burnham at the MU Fire and Rescue Training Institute at 800-869-3476 immediately. Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate your needs.
