Biography

Alexia Mingo Simmons is a Health and Wellness Extension Agent serving eight counties in Southwest Alabama, where she delivers community-focused programming in nutrition, health, family well‑being, and disaster preparedness. In her role, she partners with local agencies, schools, and community organizations to provide accessible education that strengthens individuals and families across the lifespan.
Alexia incorporates disaster education and emergency readiness into her outreach by equipping youth, adults, and older residents with practical tools for preparing for hurricanes, severe weather, and household emergencies common along the Gulf Coast. Having personally lived through multiple hurricanes as well as the April tornado outbreaks, she brings firsthand understanding and empathy to her preparedness education.
Originally from Mobile, Alabama, Alexia is deeply committed to serving Southwest Alabama’s diverse communities. In her previous role with the Mobile County Health Department, she served on disaster response teams and contributed in multiple capacities during the COVID‑19 response, further strengthening her background in emergency management and community resilience
