Biography
Anita B. Thompson, M.N.R.S., is an Assistant Area Agent for Navajo and Apache counties. She works with new ranchers and/or farmers to build and sustain operations, and studies alternative crops for northeastern Arizona. Additionally she works with small ruminants and grazing. As a military veteran, she is focused on bringing sustainable agriculture education to fellow veterans through teaching and facilitating agriculture training. Her research interests include agroecology, historical horticulture, organic agriculture, ethnobotany, native plants and seeds, growing heirloom, specialty and vegetable seed, and the Arizona seed industry.
Prior to working for the University of Arizona, Anita was in emergency medical services, worked in both structure and wildland firefighting, supported emergency management teams in various capacities, served in the U.S. Army and worked on farms and ranches.
