Biography
Carmen Flammini is an Extension Agent with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System,. She holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Chile and a Master of Science in Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences from Auburn University.
With professional experience spanning agriculture, education, and research, Carmen brings a strong science-based approach to urban forestry and landscape management. One of her primary passions is soil health as the foundation for healthy trees, resilient plants, and sustainable ecosystems. She has presented on soil health, tree root systems, and sustainable landscape practices in Extension programs, professional trainings, and community workshops.
Carmen has designed and implemented more than 30 educational gardens across Georgia and Alabama and currently leads the Alabama Native Milkweed and Native Bee Projects in collaboration with Auburn University’s Ornamental Horticulture Research Station and Bee Lab. Her work emphasizes the connection between healthy soils, food gardens, pollinators, and long-term community sustainability.
