Biography
Ms. Cintia Aguilar, is a Program Manager at NC State University Cooperative Extension, Community and Rural Development. Cintia is originally from Costa Rica where she attended the University of Costa Rica, obtained a master’s degree in psychology, and graduated with honors. She started working with Latino families in North Carolina in 1997 in Pitt County at the Outpatient Mental Health Center and later with Pitt County Schools with the Migrant Education Program. Her career with NC State Extension started in 2001 as the Migrant Education Program Identification and Recruitment Coordinator funded by the NC Department of Public Instruction. In 2007 Cintia was offered to work directly with NC State Extension with a focus on programming across Extension’s core areas to engage with the Latino Community.
Cintia’s job responsibilities include programming across Extension core areas, convening and participating in transdisciplinary specialist teams to develop and/or adapt educational programs that meet the needs of Latino audiences and assist in building organizational capacity to effectively engage with Latino and other diverse audiences.
Cintia is a co-founder and co-developer of the Juntos para una Mejor Educación Program and the Extension Farmworkers Health and Safety Program. She is part of the NC Coming Together for Racial Understanding Team. Cintia is engaged in various emergency and disaster preparedness partnerships and initiatives for the Latino community.
