Biography

Dr. Georgios Arseniou is Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist of Urban Forestry at Auburn University. He completed his Bachelor’s in Forestry at the Aristotle University in Greece, his Master’s in Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics at the University of Applied Sciences in Stuttgart, Germany, and his PhD in Forest Measurements, and Urban Forestry at Michigan State University, USA. His research focuses on understanding the structure and function of urban forests using remote sensing methods, novel tree measurements and tree physiology principles. His extension program focuses on assisting municipalities, local communities and urban forestry professionals in the state of Alabama to grow healthy urban trees through arboricultural methods, efficient urban forest management and inventories and workforce development.
