Biography

Laura Edwards serves SDSU Extension as the SD State Climatologist. In this role, she participates as a member of the SD State Drought Task Force, SD State Hazard Mitigation Team and the Silver Jackets. She has worked with individual ranchers on drought planning, communicates weather and climate hazards, and contributes to county, tribal and state hazard plans. Laura is a regional leader for professional development in climate for extension and outreach professionals as a co-leader of the North Central Climate Collaborative (NC3). She works closely with the SD Mesonet for real-time weather information and tools for agriculture and emergency management.
