Susan Lovelace joined the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium in May 2014. As the Consortium’s Assistant Director for Development and Extension, Susan leads multi-disciplinary teams conducting research into vexing coastal issues and identifies upcoming challenges and opportunities for our coast and the Consortium. Susan coordinates the Consortium’s extension specialists encompassing a wide range of topics, including community resilience and adaptation to changing climate, flooding and storms; natural resource planning and protection; wise use and conservation of living marine resources and coastal water resources; and nature-based tourism. Susan is an adjunct faculty member in the Master of Science in Environmental Studies program at the College of Charleston. She has undergraduate degrees in zoology from N.C. State University and science education from East Carolina University, and she received her Ph.D. in coastal resource management from East Carolina University in 2008.
