Disaster Response and Recovery Mental Health
The aftermath of disasters can leave devastation to individuals and communities. Research has continually detailed the psychological and physiological impacts of disasters which can include symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). To address these needs, the Disaster Response and Recovery Mental Health training program was developed to better equip participants with the skills necessary to better handle mental health issues during recovery from a natural disaster. The training will provide attendees with an understanding of mental health and how to support those with mental health challenges, in addition to understanding the needs of families and community members during a disaster.
