Engagement Guidelines/Faith Based Community Fact Sheets – Disaster Preparedness and Response
September 3, 2025
The Engagement Guidelines/Faith Based Community Fact Sheets Series of fact sheets covering individual faith communities that have been developed to help Extension and disaster professionals engage faith communities more effectively before, during, and after disasters.
The fact sheets cover 12 major faith communities in the US and include information about terminology specific to individual faith communities, organizational structure, governance and leadership, etiquette, dress, dietary restrictions, and involvement with disaster response/recovery efforts.
This information is helpful when engaging faith communities in disaster preparedness workshops, disaster response/recovery efforts, volunteer management, and when the need arises for mass sheltering and feeding of stricken populations.
